Assisted Living After TAVR or a Pacemaker in Florida
TAVR (a valve placed through a blood vessel, usually the groin) and a new pacemaker send families to the same search as CABG: assisted living after a heart procedure in Florida. The recovery is often shorter than open-chest surgery. The placement question is still the same. Is the next address daily skilled care, or safer nights once the person is stable? TAVR is not a same-day ALF move
Hospital teams watch the access site, blood pressure, kidneys, and heart rhythm. Some people go home with home health. Others need a short skilled stay for walking, swelling, and a new medication list. A Florida ALF can be the landing place when the person can walk a safe distance, the groin or pocket is not an open skilled-wound problem, and staff will actually administer time-sensitive heart pills.

Pacemaker tours are about the arm, not the lobby
Ask which arm cannot be lifted, for how many weeks, and who will cue that at 2 a.m. Ask how staff help a person stand without pulling on the implant side. Ask who notices a dizzy spell versus waiting until morning. If a defibrillator or a temporary pacing wire is still in the picture, stay on the nursing-home hub until the cardiologist clears community living.
AHCA Form 1823 should name the device, the anticoagulant if one was added, and any oxygen order. Extended Congregate Care or Limited Nursing Services can be the difference after a weekend flare.
Shortlist while the person is still being watched
Open the nearest city hub and the nursing home hub. Compare two ALFs that already keep heart-failure residents, plus a skilled option if therapy or unstable vitals are still the driver. - Sometimes sooner than after open-chest surgery, but not if the groin site, blood pressure, or new heart-rhythm orders still need daily skilled checks. - Can someone with a new pacemaker live in a Florida ALF?
- Often yes once the pocket is stable and staff will cue arm restrictions on the implant side. Ask who helps with a shower without lifting that arm, who gives blood thinners if they were added, and who calls after a dizzy spell. Unstable rhythm or daily skilled nursing still belongs in rehab first.
- Does Medicare pay for assisted living after TAVR or a pacemaker?
- No. Original Medicare may cover a qualifying short skilled stay or home-health visits after an inpatient admission. It does not pay ongoing assisted living room and board. Start the ALF shortlist before the Notice of Medicare Non-Coverage.
