Feeding Tubes and PEG in Florida Assisted Living
Discharge planners say "PEG tube" and families search feeding tube assisted living Florida the same afternoon. What a standard ALF generally cannot do
Residents admitted to a standard, Limited Nursing Services, or Limited Mental Health license generally may not require staff assistance with tube feeding. Artificial airway management (other than CPAP or BiPAP) and some other skilled tasks are also off limits. A pretty dining room does not change that list.
Two narrower doors sometimes exist. First, a person who independently maintains their own PEG, with no staff help on the tube, may still fit if the administrator agrees and the rest of the admission criteria are met. Second, licensed hospice can allow an admission or a stay that would otherwise fail, when the facility and the hospice put a written plan in place. Unlicensed staff, family, and volunteers still cannot administer tube feedings or adjust the tube.
Extended Congregate Care uses a separate admission rule (59A-36.021). Some ECC communities will consider a tube if licensed staff and the plan match. That is not a blanket yes. Ask which license is on the wall and who, by name and license, would touch the tube.
Pick the setting that can legally keep the person
If the person needs staff to run the feeding, start on the Florida nursing home hub unless hospice plus a willing ALF is already arranged.
